Guitar Chords

Pick a root note and a chord type to see where your fingers go in standard tuning (E A D G B E). Each chord has several shapes up the neck, so try them all. Tap any string on the neck to hear that note.

Options

Note names

Default uses the names musicians usually write for that chord, like E♭ major and C♯ minor.

A ring at the nut means play the string open; × means don't play it. An inversion puts a different chord note in the bass, on the lowest string you play.

GC-001
Sound isn't available. The browser couldn't start its audio engine, or audio is blocked. Check the device isn't on silent, tap a button once and try again, or use a current version of Safari, Chrome or Firefox. The neck still works without sound.
GC-002
No comfortable shape. Some inversions, mostly of four-note chords, can't be played within four frets in standard tuning without leaving out a chord note. Pick another inversion, or root position.
